چکیده

In this work, we address the problem of defining a robust patch dissimilarity measure for an image corrupted by an additive white Gaussian noise. The whiteness of the noise, despite being a common assumption that is realistic for RAW images, is hardly used to its full potential by classical denoising methods. In particular, the L-norm is very widely used to evaluate distances and similarities between images or patches. However, we claim that a better dissimilarity measure can be defined to convey more structural information. We propose to compute the dissimilarity between patches by using the autocorrelation of their difference. In order to illustrate the usefulness of this measure, we perform three experiments. First, this new criterion is used in a similar patch detection task. Then, we use it on the Non Local Means (NLM) denoising method and show that it improves performances by a large margin. Finally, it is applied to the task of no-reference evaluation of denoising results, where it shows interesting visual properties. In all those applications, the autocorrelation improves over the L-norm.

A Novel Method for Detection of Epilepsy in Short and Noisy EEG Signals Using Ordinal Pattern Analysis

Introduction: In this paper, a novel complexity measure is proposed to detect dynamical changes in nonlinear systems using ordinal pattern analysis of time series data taken from the system. Epilepsy is considered as a dynamical change in nonlinear and complex brain system. The ability of the proposed measure for characterizing the normal and epileptic EEG signals when the signal is short or is...

خوشه‌بندی داده‌های بیان‌ژنی توسط عدم تشابه جنگل تصادفی

Background: The clustering of gene expression data plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. These kinds of data are typically involve in a large number of variables (genes), in comparison with number of samples (patients). Many clustering methods have been built based on the dissimilarity among observations that are calculated by a distance function. As increa...

Multiscale Hybrid Non-local Means Filtering Using Modified Similarity Measure

—A new multiscale implementation of non-local means filtering for image denoising is proposed. The proposed algorithm also introduces a modification of similarity measure for patch comparison. The standard Euclidean norm is replaced by weighted Euclidean norm for patch based comparison. Assuming the patch as an oriented surface, notion of normal vector patch is being associated with each patch....

Adaptive histograms and dissimilarity measure for texture retrieval and classification

Histogram-based dissimilarity measures are extensively used for content-based image retrieval. In an earlier paper [1], we proposed an efficient weighted correlation dissimilarity measure for adaptive-binning color histograms. Compared to existing fixed-binning histograms and dissimilarity measures, adaptive histograms together with weighted correlation produce the best overall performance in t...

Sparse Multiscale Patches for Image Processing

This paper presents a framework to define an objective measure of the similarity (or dissimilarity) between two images for image processing. The problem is twofold: 1) define a set of features that capture the information contained in the image relevant for the given task and 2) define a similarity measure in this feature space. In this paper, we propose a feature space as well as a statistical...
